AUCTION : 1014

Lot#: 1052

DESCRIPTION: English, single fusee skeleton timepiece, striking a single bell tone on the hour. in a pierced Gothic frame, and with old glass dome, c1900
CONDITION: this configuration of skeleton clock was finished from a kit supplied around 1900, using a movement from a round dial or pub clock. These conversions are pretty easy to identify, since the motion wheels are not spoked, and the pillars are straight (actually the same pillars removed from the pub movement). This is not to be confused with a modern Chinese skeleton clock, rather our clock was made to capitalize on the intense English interest in skeleton clocks at the time, and provide a less expensive alternative to those produced by English clock companies. Gut needs replacement. Ht of clock frame on turned feet = 12", overall with dome and base = 15"
ESTIMATE: $500 - $750
PRICE SOLD: $350
